About Me:
I am a 4th grade teacher in Clinton, CT at Abraham Pierson School. I have taught 4th grade for the past 7 years and taught an integrated model of a combined 4th/5th grade classroom for 6 years prior to that. I have 2 children of my own, a second grader and a fourth grader. I love to read, run, ski, and spend as much of my summer near water whether it be a pool, boat, or beach!
Introduction:
I have seen the pendulum swing back and forth many times in my years as a teacher. One thing that has remained consistent is the need for engaging literacy instruction. This is often achieved through the use of Literature Circles. I have tried many formats over the years and I'm constantly trying new and innovative ways to ensure my literature circles are engaging, promoting purposeful discourse, increasing comprehension, and most importantly building life long readers!
This latest attempt recognizes the increasing role that technology plays both in society and the changing model of what education needs to be. I've taken many of the roles and added a technology platform to make them more interactive and engaging while maintaining the integrity of the activity. Enjoy!
